Privacy Policy for Soundary

Overview

Soundary captures life’s moments in sound. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains how Soundary handles your data, both for private moments and sending to the map.

Data the App Collects

Audio Recordings

• What: Your recordings
• Where stored: On your device only
• Format: Standard or high-res quality
• Purpose: To save your moments

Location

• What: Where you recorded (city, country, place)
• Where stored: On your device only
• How: From your device when you allow it
• Purpose: To add the place to your moments

Photos

• What: Photos you add to moments
• Where stored: On your device only
• How: From your photo library when you allow it
• Purpose: To add photos to your moments

Weather

• What: Temperature, conditions, wind
• Where from: Weather service
• How: The app sends your location to get weather
• Purpose: To add weather to your moments

Your Stats

• What: Listening time, moments captured, activity
• Where stored: On your device only
• Purpose: To show you your stats

How the App Uses Your Data

Private (Default)

• Stays on your device - Your private moments are never sent anywhere
• iCloud sync - Turn on iCloud in Settings to sync across your devices (uses your private iCloud storage)
• Only you - Only you can access your private moments
• No tracking - The app does not track what you do
• No ads - The app does not show ads

Sending to the Map (Optional)

What Gets Sent to the Map

When you send a moment to the Soundary community, these become visible to everyone:

• Audio & Photo: Your moment (audio + photo together)
• Title: The moment’s title
• Hidden Location: Your exact location stays hidden
• Duration: How long the moment is
• Date: When you created it

What is NOT sent:

• Your name
• Your exact location
• Your private moments (only moments you send are visible)
• Your email or iCloud details

Listening Stats

For moments sent to the map, the app collects listening stats to show good moments to others:

• Device ID: A private identifier for the device (not your name or identity)
• How long: How long people listened
• How much: What percentage they listened to
• When: When they listened

Purpose: These stats help show good moments to others and hide moments people don’t listen to.

Privacy: We can’t tell who listened. Everything is private.

Safety

• You can report moments that don’t feel right
• Moments too many people report are hidden
• You can block people to hide all their moments

Limits

To keep things working well and prevent spam:

• Daily sending limit (how many moments per day)
• Size limit per moment
• Minimum length
• Daily download limit for listening to others’ moments

These limits can change.

Permissions the App Needs

Microphone (Required)

• Why: To capture moments
• When: When you tap Capture
• Turn off: Settings → Privacy & Security → Microphone

Location (Optional)

• Why: To add the place to your moments
• When: Only while recording
• Privacy: Private moments keep exact location on your device. Moments sent to the map hide your exact location.
• Turn off: Settings → Privacy & Security → Location

Photos (Optional)

• Why: To add photos to your moments
• When: Only when you add a photo
• Turn off: Settings → Privacy & Security → Photos

iCloud (Required for sending to the map)

• Why: To prevent spam
• What: The app only sees your iCloud ID (not your personal info)
• Note: You can use private moments without iCloud

Services We Use

Weather Service

• What for: Get weather for your moments
• What’s sent: Your location
• Privacy: https://open-meteo.com/en/terms

Apple iCloud

• What for: Sync private moments (if you turn it on) and store moments sent to the map
• Private: Your private moments (only you can see)
• Map moments: Moments sent to the map (everyone can see)
• Privacy: https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/
• Turn off: Settings to keep everything on your device

No other services are used.

What You Can Do

You control your data:

• See: View all your private moments in the app
• Remove: Remove sounds, moments, or all map moments anytime
• Send: Send moments to friends or to the map
• Turn off permissions: Turn off microphone, location, or photos anytime
• Block: Hide moments from people on Explore
• Report: Report moments that don’t feel right
• Use privately: Use the app privately without sending to the map

How Long We Keep Data

Private Moments

• Stay on your device until you remove them
• If iCloud is on: stay in your iCloud until you remove them
• Deleting the app removes everything from your device

Map Moments

• Stay on the map until you remove them
• Remove all map moments: Settings → Stats → About → “Remove all map moments”
• Listening stats stay for showing good moments to others
• Deleting the app does NOT remove your map moments (remove them first if you want)

Privacy for Children

Soundary works for all ages.

Private: All data stays on the device.

Sending to the map: Parents should know:

• Moments sent to the map are visible to everyone
• Exact location stays hidden
• The app collects listening stats

For European Users

If you’re in the European Union:

• ✅ You choose: You choose what to send to the map
• ✅ Only what’s needed: The app only collects what’s needed (listening stats)
• ✅ Privacy: Your exact location stays hidden
• ✅ You can remove: Remove your map moments anytime
• ✅ Clear: This policy explains what data we collect
• ✅ Not for sale: We never sell your data

This policy may change. We’ll let you know in the app.
